The Ministry of Culture launched the Arabic Calligraphy 2020 platform, which will provide individuals, public sectors and non-profit private sectors with the chance to present their insights and proposals that contribute to the Arabic calligraphy during the year 2020, via the link: https://engage.moc.gov.sa / calligraphy.

During this initiative, the Ministry will provide the desired support, whether it is total, partial, logistical, or related to media, for the distinctive proposals chosen via this electronic platform. This aimed to highlight the main components of the Arab culture, enriching such ancient art with events and activities that all society participates in.

The Saudi Minister of Culture HRH Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan has announced that 2020 will be designated as the “Year of Arabic Calligraphy”. This was in appreciation and celebration of the importance accorded to Arabic calligraphy in a way that enhances its presence in society throughout the year, as well as encouraging individuals and those interested in presenting their talents and best practices in such field.

It is worth noted that the electronic platform “Year of Arabic Calligraphy 2020” will start receiving proposals as from January 15 until February 15. After which, a committee will select the best proposals upon the terms and conditions, and the Ministry will announce the nomination results on March 15.
